I'm excited to announce that I am be releasing my sixth single ‘Wasting My Time’ on March 31st 2023.
I’ve been experimenting with ‘Spoken word’ and ‘Rap’ music and how I can integrate these into the melody. The song’s about the chaos and calm of a relationship. I play around with the theme of pairs, and opposites and how turbulent a relationship might sometimes feel. Pressure builds, as friends can see things from the outside and offer a different perspective, perhaps a more truthful insight into the reality of how the relationship really is, or has become?
I wrote this track back in October 2022 during a first meeting with Sam Bickmore (@Sambickmoredrums). Sam is an amazing young drummer, musically we clicked very quickly so I invited him to compose and play the drums on this track. It was recorded at RatCat Recording Studios with Natt Webb on production just before Christmas 2022.
About the artwork: It's designed by Charlotte Rooke (@RookeAbstract) I love it! Charlotte picked up on some of the key visuals from my lyrics and I’m so happy with it! Did you spot the number 23? It’s a nod to mine and Sam’s combined age when we recorded it, me(13) and Sam (10). I’ll be 14yrs old just before this song is released and Sam’s now 11! I'm excited about the year ahead and over the coming months I'm looking forward to releasing more tracks.
